Language - why is my Firefox installing in german?

  • I downloaded Firefox from the U.S. site, precisely for worry of getting stuck with the wrong language version.

True, I'm currently in Germany, but your locality detection fails to consider the fact that there are people in Germany that are NOT german!

I've looked through the options, and there's no place to alter the language of the user interface!

My computer is set to English, the locality of my computer is set to U.S. but all to no avail.

    Very frustrating

Basically, users should be asked at install what language they want...

    Is there any workaround?

  • You have a good point, this behaviour is indeeed a bit strange. There is a way to show all versions, but since the text of this link is written in German and claims to only provide installers for other operationg systems (Weitere Betriebssysteme) while not even mentioning the language aspect, it's likely that someone who doesn't speak German does not figure it out.

I think this should be fixed, maybe by providing a link that is always shown in English language. In my opinion, we could also well do without that GeoIP detection and always show all available versions. Nevertheless, click here to download the British or US English version.
