firefox funktioniert nach restart nichtmehr

    hi...

    ich habe gestern firefox 2.0.0.7 (Deutsch) auf Windows XP Professional SP2 (englisch) installiert.

    ging anfangs ganz gut.

    nur als ich heute wieder starten wollte hab ich folgende fehlermeldung bekommen:
    "The prigram must close to allaw a previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart."

    nach mehreren neustarts das selbe problem.

    das uninstall funktioniert auch nicht. es wird überhaupt nicht ausgeführt.
    neu installation macht auch keinen unterschied.

    irgenwelche ideen was ich noch probieren könnte?

    allerdings hat sie mein problem nicht gelöst.

    es ist kein ein process xpicleanup.exe aktiv.
    weiters hab ich unter C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox auch kein xpicleanup.dat gefunden

    habe beide files nur unter C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox gefunden.
    wobei sich dort xpicleanup.dat weder löschen noch copieren läst (wird wohl durch irgend einen anderen task gesperrt)

    weiters habe ich testweise die firewall deaktiviert (McAfee Desktop Firewall)
    auch nach einem neustart mit deaktiverter firewall hab ich das selbe problem.
