Aber die Verkleinerung mit dem mittleren Symbol hilft vielleicht, dass Firefox nach dem Hochfahren minimiert startet (mit Ausführen = Minimiert in den Verknüpfungseigenschaften). Das Herunterfahren mit maximiertem Fenster könnte das von vornherein verhindern.

Ja, ich empfehle es dringend. Du hast da eine Datei in deinem Profil, von der du bisher gar nichts wusstest. Darin sind Einstellungen festgelegt, die dir wahrscheinlich auch nichts sagen. Die user.js hat Priorität gegenüber der prefs.js. Die Datei prefs.js ist die Standarddatei für die Firefox-Einstellungen. Die user.js kann also die Einstellungen der prefs.js überschreiben und das tut sie auch, und wird es auch weiterhin tun, bis du sie löschst. Da aber ihre Einstellungen bereits übernommen wurden, musst du, wie ich bereits in Beitrag #25 schrieb, die Einstellungen der user.js auch noch in about:config zurücksetzen. So wird dann auch die prefs.js von den Änderungen der user.js bereinigt.

Und lösche die Datei user.js. Wenn du Firefox bereinigst, wie von AngelOfDarkness empfohlen, wird zwar ein neues Profil angelegt, aber du wirst sicherlich Daten des alten Profils in das neue Profil übernehmen wollen. Wenn es die user.js nicht mehr gibt, kannst du sie auch nicht versehentlich kopieren.

Das Löschen der user.js reicht jedoch nicht aus, die Einstellungen aus ihr sind mit ihren Werten in den Einstellungen von Firefox verankert. Du musst also die Einstellungen aus der user.js wieder auf die Standardwerte zurücksetzen.

Lösche also die user.js. Gib dann about:config in die Adressleiste, bestätige die eventuell erscheinende Warnung und nimm dir dann deinen Beitrag #13 zu Hilfe, wo du den Inhalt der user.js eingefügt hast. Suche jetzt in about:config jede einzelne Einstellung (in user.js zwischen den Anführungszeichen innerhalb der runden Klammern) und schaue dann bei der entsprechenden Einstellung ganz rechts nach den Symbolen. Es gibt bei manchen Einstellungen zwei Symbole; ist das hintere ein gebogener Pfeil, klicke darauf, dann wird der Wert auf den Standardwert zurückgesetzt. Gibt es dieses Pfeilsymbol nicht, stattdessen ein Papierkorbsymbol, dann klicke darauf. Die entsprechende Einstellung wurde irgendwann mal von der user.js angelegt. Per Klick auf das Papierkorbsymbol wird die Einstellung entfernt.

Mache das also auf jeden Fall noch vor dem Bereinigen, um dann dein jetziges Profil, das dann später dein altes Profil sein wird, wenigstens in dieser Hinsicht zu bereinigen. So kann es dir nicht passieren, dass du die Einstellungen der user.js mit ihren Werten versehentlich in das neue Profil übernimmst.

Du hast eine Datei namens user.js im Profilverzeichnis. Hast du diese Datei selbst angelegt? Wenn nicht, öffne die Datei in einem Texteditor und kopiere den Inhalt der Datei hier in das Antwortfeld in einen Code-Kasten, den du mit einem Klick auf das Symbol </> einfügst. Siehe dazu auch Beitrag #4.

Setze mal unten die Timeout-Zeit von 1000 auf 5000 hoch, mit 5000 funktioniert das Skript bei mir. Unter Umständen musst du den Wert noch höher heraufsetzen.

Ändere mal in Zeile 1 des CSS-Codes die Endung .xul in .xhtml. Es gibt keine Dateien mit der Endung .xul mehr. Der Eintrag wird ansonsten ignoriert und gerade bookmarksSidebar.xhtml ist der Bezug auf den Lesezeichen-Bereich der Seitenleiste.

Hast du eventuell auf dem Laptop Webseiten nicht erlaubt, ihre eigenen Schriftarten verwenden zu können? Gehe mal zu Extras --> Einstellungen --> Allgemein --> Sprache und Erscheinungsbild --> Erweitert --> Seiten das Verwenden von eigenen statt der oben gewählten Schriftarten erlauben und schaue nach, ob dort ein Häkchen davor ist. Wenn nicht, mache eins hinein.

Du verwechselst da etwas. Dieser Schalter wirkt nur, wenn du etwas in die Adressleiste eingibst, erst dann erscheint die Liste der bisher eingegebenen/aufgerufenen Adressen. Was erst kommt, sind lediglich die Adressen von der Standard-Startseite von Firefox (about:newtab), und das sind maximal 8 Einträge.
