# Help Text File for English-US

#
# This file contains the Help text for the “Bookmarks Title Styles” extension, and some text style keywords that control the appearance of the Help dialog. All text in the file, including these instructions, may be translated for localization.
#
# The following should be noted:
#
# - This text file should always be saved with UTF-8 encoding, or certain characters, including “smart quotes”, may not display properly. Please check the settings in your text editor.
#
# - Any line beginning with a “#” (pound sign) in column 1 is a comment, and will not appear in the Help dialog.
#
# - Text style keywords begin with a “.” (period) in column 1. They will not appear in the dialog, but they affect the styling of the text that follows. The available style keywords are listed below. These keywords are defined by the program, and should not be translated in any way.
#
# - All text, including blank lines, will appear in the Help dialog, excluding only comments and style keywords.
#
# The available style keywords are for use only in styling headings. Text paragraphs use a preset style. A style keyword should be used on the line preceding a heading. It affects only the first line of text following the keyword.
#
# Heading style keywords:
#
# .title - Styles the main Help dialog title, centered, with a large distinctive font.
#
# .title-plain - Styles title, centered, with an ordinary large font, if “.title” font is unsuitable with a language.
#
# .heading-center - Centers a heading, and uses a font larger than subheadings.
#
# .subheading - Styles a left-justified subheading.
#
# .subheading-underline - Styles a left-justified and underlined subheading.
#
# Centered titles and headings may be indented in the plain text below, just to show visually that they will be centered. The program removes any preceding spaces, and then centers the text appropriately.

                        Introduction

“Bookmarks Title Styles” is an extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser. It lets a user assign alternate text colors and text styles to the titles of specific Bookmarks items and subfolders, both in menu popups and in tree views (Sidebar and Library). Also, a new default text color may be set for all Bookmarks items, and another for all Bookmarks subfolders, if they have not been individually styled.

This extension is a cousin of the Bookmarks Folder Images extension, which can replace the default folder image for a specific Bookmarks folder with a different image, and also the Bookmarks Favicon Images extension, which can replace Bookmarks favicons in the display.

Installation

On install, a toolbar button with a “Bookmark” icon is placed in the browser’s menu panel. Using the browser’s Customize dialog it can be moved to a toolbar if preferred. The button is the main interface to all the extension’s features. Alternatively, all the extension’s functions can be accessed from the Tools menu in the main menu bar.

Toolbar Button Usage

Clicking the Bookmark button opens a popup menu that lets you access the extension’s features.

Selecting “Set Bookmarks Title Styles” will open the extension’s main styling dialog. It lets you select a specific Bookmark or folder, and then open a Color Picker dialog to change the text color. Also, you can set Bold, Italic, or Underline, or any combination of these styles, for specific items. From this dialog you also can set default colors for Bookmarks and folder titles.
